Elmhirst House is a small residential care home in Worsborough supporting children and young people with Learning Disabilities and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties. We're here to help them grow, learn, and feel they belong.

A nurturing residential setting in Worsborough, designed around the needs of children with Learning Disabilities and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties.
Elmhirst House is a warm, homely residential setting with comfortable shared spaces, gardens, and quiet corners where young people can take a breath. Every child has their own bedroom which they help decorate when they move in — because feeling at home starts with somewhere that feels like yours.
Our approach is therapeutic, trauma-informed, and built on long-term relationships. We work closely with schools, CAMHS, social workers, and families to make sure every young person has a plan that's genuinely theirs — one built around their interests, their goals, and the way they best learn and communicate.
Days at Elmhirst House are calm, predictable, and full of small wins: cooking together, trips out locally, and quiet evenings reading or gaming. Routine matters. So does laughter.
Trauma-informed approaches with on-site therapy support and clinical supervision.
Comfortable communal rooms, gardens, and bedrooms each child makes their own.
Strong links with local SEN schools and on-site tuition when that's the right fit.
Cooking, days out, music, sport, and long evenings just being a kid.
Spaces designed to feel calm, familiar, and welcoming — with plenty of room to play, to learn, and to be quiet when that’s what’s needed.
Photographed across our home and gardens — names and faces of the young people in our care are kept private throughout. — The Elmhirst House team
A consistent, well-trained team is the single most important thing we offer. Most of our staff have been with us for over five years.
